Rhythum

Experience a unique style of R&B music with an artist who is definitely one of  a kind and can hold his own next to any of the most seasoned of entertainers… RHYTHUM!

Born Troy D. Hicks on March 16th, this Dallas, TX native began his quest for success as early as the age of 7.  Dancing and singing to his step dad’s old records, it wasn’t until he experienced Michael Jackson for the first time that he knew his reason for being on this earth.

Starring in several talent shows and  local talent searches this young fiery adolescent made a name for himself as the little ‘Hood Mike’. He was so amazing many of the local events would invite him out to make special appearances, dancing Michael Jackson routines like he choreographed them himself.

Rhythum first started making music as a trombone playing pre-teen in middle school.  He soon transitioned into high school, where under the instruction and direction of Mr. Raybone, heightened his knowledge of music on a more technical aspect as a member of the Apache Band at Spruce High.

He took that teaching even further by going on to college and graduating from the Art Institute of Dallas. There he earned an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Music and Video Business. With this degree and eagerness driving him to make his mark on this world, Rhythum found himself rubbing elbows with the likes of celebrities.

Over the years he has worked diligently behind the scenes of music videos, movies, commercials, plays, and concerts doing lighting, sound, and shooting camera.  But never for a moment, losing sight of his true goal of illuminating in the lime light, placing this endowed musical mastermind, in front of the camera instead of behind it.

The beautiful melodies that ease from Rhythum’s vocal chords are only the icing on this cake of true artistry. Writing, arranging, and producing for various local  artists, as well as his own material, and flame inducing dance moves make this crooner a force to be reckoned with.

In his endeavors to climb the ranks he has honed a brand of music he likes to call; Hood Symphonies. These works can be best described as a combination of real life everyday conversation, paired with gutter beats, and catchy hooks.

In his mission to spread the love though his varied style of R&B, Rhythum has performed in many local clubs and venues in Dallas. He has also, graced the stages in Houston, and cities in Oklahoma and Michigan.

Credited with forming the greatest group that never was, RLP, Rhythum managed to get a song called Crazy Love in rotation on KPRR Power 102 in El Paso, TX.

After the group disbanded Rhythum became a solo artist and has continued to move forward, waiting patiently in the wings for his turn to reign as one of the truest who ever did it, and one of the greatest to ever be it.

Ask and he will be the first to tell you he was born a star! With his calming voice, intense tracks, super fly swag, and sincere love for the art of music, Rhythum is ready to bombard the game and stay awhile.
