Sonny

Bonoho

If you think hip-hop has an honesty problem, don’t only go blaming the studio gangstas. These days, rappers too often fail to be true to themselves whether that means not practicing what they preach or expressing their desires but never their fears. Sooner or later, we all need a healthy dose of Sonny Bonoho.

An Asian American MC known by the stage name of Sonny Bonoho has shown his notorious bright lights and simultaneously brought a measure of humor in the Pacific Northwest. “Sonny Bonoho’s music is to improve quality of life. It’s the struggle to solve problems within yourself,” he explains.

It was a long stride for Sonny Bonoho to start making his name for himself in the Tacoma/Seattle area. Sonny Bonoho has given back to his community in more ways than one. This emcee has done everything from raising money for Katrina victims to hosting local Rap and B-Boy competitions. “In my community, many people know me as the person who always ties everybody together. While doing all that, I still focus on Sonny Bonoho, the artist”.

Sonny Bonoho is the poster boy for hard work, which has paid off by hitting the streets and working on his projects independently. He has opened shows for heavyweights such as Outlaw, 2 Live Crew, Digital Underground, Dylan, Bohagon, Playboy Tre, Devin the Dude, Twista, Kurupt, Flavor Flav, Cool Nutz, Yukmouth, E-40, RBL, Jedi Mind Trick, Sean Price, Dj Quik, AMG, Prodigy, Cassie, Sean Kingston, Richboy, Silk, Slick Rick, De La Soul, YZ, Andre Nikatina, & more. He evidently grew into an innovative structured hip-hop collective designed.

In 2005, Sonny Bonoho hooked up with Ga Durt Artist’s Playboy Tre & Bohagon of Lil Jon’s record label BME. After working on a number of projects together, Sonny Bonoho & Playboy Tre decided to shoot the video “Get Down” together. In the Summer of 2006, he placed a song called “Telling You” Featuring Playboy Tre on the Ga Durt Compilation. He even started a new group with Playboy Tre called “The Bona Brothers”. In 2007, It was a big power move for Sonny Bonoho. He played over 100 concerts last year. He was on tour with Bohagon & Playboy Tre in Germany. “It’s a blessing to make good music with my brothers Bohagon & Playboy Tre,” explains Sonny Bonoho.

His debut album, “Life of a Back-Up Singer” which includes Bohagon, Playboy Tre, Humpty of Digital Underground, and more. This rapper/producer/promoter has made a name for himself because of his genuine style and offbeat personality. The original concept for his album was to feature HipHop as the lead vocal and Sonny Bonoho on the back-up mic. “Everything about me is unorthodox and that’s how I feel about HipHop”.

Listening to Sonny’s lyrics and fluid sound will make you laugh and have a good time. His quirky character has taken full spotlight. Under his own label Twenty Fifty, he has released “Life of a Back-Up Singer” and “Wonderland Mixtape”.
