Michael Vicks: he who is without sin
cast the first stone
This blogger was brought to my attention the other day. I thought I should publish
it and add my two cents in:
So it's a federal crime to be mean to dogs? Who knew?
What's wrong with what Michael Vick did? I have no inclination to do what he did
with dogs, but I have no comprehension of what all the fuss is about. Most people who are upset about killing dogs or letting
them attack each other have at some point in their lives caught a fish, which is as extreme a form of murderous torture of
an animal as I can imagine. Not only have most of them caught a fish, they have actually eaten many more of them than they've
caught. Which is weirder, killing an animal or eating its dead flesh? Most of us have never eaten dog meat, but in some countries
it is a delicacy. Is there something evil going on in those countries? Are they violating the natural order of things? Should
we invade them or get the UN to intervene? They are killing and eating dogs for god's sake!!!
What is the moral basis -- the natural law, if you will -- that accords special
respect and protection to dogs in our written laws? And how does that same natural law allow for fish being clubbed to death
on boat decks if they haven't died already from the hook-in-mouth a trick we so enjoy pulling on them?
Our reverence for dog life resembles our reverence for human life. Up to a point.
It's okay to kill your dog if you think your dog is too sick to go on living much longer or if you just can't afford medical
help for your dog. And, don't worry, no legal authority is ever going to ask you to prove that your dog was really sick enough
to kill or even sick at all. If you don't have the stomach for killing your dog yourself, you contract with a dog killer --
otherwise known as a veterinarian -- to do the dirty work for you. No federal law against that yet. Our dog reverence is so
shot full of loopholes that there is no describable moral order to it at all.
Americans revere horses too, but it's okay to shoot your racehorse in the head in
public if it so much as breaks a leg--something I saw the first time I went to a racetrack. And it's more than okay--politicians
consider it a leadership demonstration--to hunt. Shoot 'em, kill 'em, cook 'em, eat 'em is the American way for a lot of pretty
birds and every four-legged animal other than dogs, cats, and horses.
Between bites at McDonald's today there will be a lot of outrage
expressed about Michael Vick getting off easy. I won't understand a word of it.
Michael Vick holding puppy
Now to my point of view, I’ve
loved and owned several pit bulls. My pits acted like cats, they were gentle and sweet. I recently lost mine, due to health
issues. I’m grieving right now. So to see the public outrage and the call to kill all pits, really hurts my heart. I
see T-Shirts being sold as illustrated in the picture below stating “Neuter Michael Vick”. I’ve heard but
haven’t seen that there are T- shirts that state “Kill Michael Vicks”. Now everyday there is a call to get
rid of all Pit Bulls and Michael Vick.
Michael Vick is a young man who made a mistake, a mistake that has possibly cost
him, some say maybe his career. I don’t know of one human being that walks the earth that hasn’t sinned or made
a mistake. If there is one, please send me your information along with documentation, at that time I’ll send you an
award with my apology. There are other crimes that are occurring present day, which gets no attention. Now there are T- Shirts
saying that “Ignorance Breeds Ignorance Neuter Michael Vick”. Why
aren’t there T-shirts that say “Rapist Breed Rapist Neuter all Rapists, Child Molesters Breed Child Molesters
Neuter all Child Molesters, or how about the most common one Racist Breed Racist Neuter all Racist and etc? Instead of gearing
it toward Michael Vick for a mistake, it could include the Rapist, Child Molesters, Murders, Racist, and to those that don’t
like what they don’t understand. Everybody calling for this young man’s head I have a question for you. Where
were you and your activist heart when James Byrd was dragged to his dead as a sport in Jasper, Texas? You know one would think
that the world looks at America as having more compassion for Animals than the life of Blacks or their own period. Where is
the concern for the uninsured Americans of all races that at by the time they go for medical assistance it’s too late.
Before you start sending emails talking about I agree with what he did. I don’t
he was wrong I love dogs, cats and most all animals that I’m not afraid of. I’m just saying it was a mistake.
The thing about mistakes, sometimes it makes others forget about whatever good you’ve done, which in my opinion is a
shame.
Instead of the focus being on a mistake made by a young man lets focus on the poor
children in America that have no hope in their lives. All they see is nothing. Let’s call for a T-Shirt campaign that
say’s “Save the hopeless”, or “Equal education for all”, how about “Kill racisms cause
it kills”. I’m sure you get the point. In closing all I have to say is “He who has SINNED not cast the first
STONE”. Keep your head up Young man (Michael Vick) you’re be okay
what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. Peace out.
Clerk in Atlanta proudly sales her T-Shirt for $ 20.00 the sad part is that she sold out of all of them
